SAHCO ENHANCES OPERATIONS WITH STATE-OF-THE-ART GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT
The leading Ground Handling company in Nigeria, Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has enhanced its operations with the acquisition of state-of-the-art ground handling equipment. The equipment, which were unveiled at its Engineering and Maintenance Workshop in the Air Force Base at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, the company said was over N1 billion. With the acquisition and use of the equipment, the Ground Handling company, which recently enlisted on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), has further cemented its position as the leading ground handling company in West and Central African Regions. Speaking at the commissioning of the event, the Managing Director of SAHCO, Mr. Basil Agboarumi, said that apart from the machines unveiled, some other equipment were currently at Onne Port in Port Harcourt awaiting final clearance. Some of the equipment commissioned by SAHCO included Ground Power Units (GPU), Load Banks, Tow bars, Tyre Removal Machines and 10 new engines for ground operations. Agboarumi emphasized that SAHCO was already changing the face of aviation Ground Handling services in Nigeria with its latest acquisition, stressing that the company would consistently offer its clients the best of services anywhere in the country. He added that with the regularly upgrade and investment on equipment, SAHCO would be a force to reckon with in global aviation industry. Agboarumi said: “As a Ground Handling company, we want to ensure that we do ground handling to the highest industry standards. We understand we need to deploy equipment that will make our clients happy and we also know that we have to partner with our clients. “Apart from these that are commissioned today, some of our other equipment are still coming to Lagos from Port Harcourt. They are presently awaiting clearance from the port. SAHCO is moving towards making the right impacts in the industry. We always want to operate safe and efficient ground handling operations for our clients.” Also commenting at the event, Assistant General Manager, Maintenance and Engineering, Mr. Toyin Oriowo, said that the equipment acquired were some of the major machines in the global aviation industry. He insisted that the equipment came with safety devices that prevent damages to the machines or aircraft, stressing that the GPU had a capacity of 140KVA, while a major aircraft highest capacity was 90KVA. He said: “What we are commissioning today is the latest technology in town with lots of safety devices to prevent damages to either the equipment or the aircraft.” The tow bars can handle Airbus A320, Boeing 737, A330, A340-200/300, A350, B767, B777, B787 and IL96. Others were DC10/MD 11, L10 11, A340-500/600 and B747. According to him, the equipment, which were manufactured in France came with training for its technical personnel. SAHCO is an aviation ground handling company that is involved in Passenger Handling, Ramp Handling, Cargo services and Warehousing, Aviation security services, Ground Support Maintenance services, Crew Bus and Executive Lounge Services and other related Ground Handling Services while ensuring that Ground Handling assignments is carried out in an efficient, speedy and safe manner by deploying appropriate tools.
SAHCO RENEWS HANDLING CONTRACT WITH ARIK AIR

Skyway Aviation Handling Company Public Liability Company (SAHCO) has renewed its ground handling contract with Arik Air.

Mr. Basil Agboarumi, the Managing Director/CEO, SAHCO, during the renewal of ground handling service agreement with Arik Air at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos promised to deliver quality and improved ground handling services to all its clientele across the nation’s airports especially as it acquires more state-of-the-art equipment for operations.

Basil disclosed that some new ground handling equipment of the company would in the next few weeks arrive the country, saying that this would further improve the quality of its service to its clients, including Arik Air.

 

SAHCOL MANUFACTURES GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT
The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) team has built a Ground Support Equipment from scratch at the SAHCOL Engineering and Maintenance workshop to fuel Aviation Ground Support equipment in Lagos. The fuel bowser is the first in the history of aviation of ground handling in Nigeria to be created from scratch from locally sourced materials. The idea to create the equipment was conceived by the engineering team of SAHCOL to align with the Nigerian maxim of Use Nigeria Buy Nigeria. The production of the equipment is aimed at leading to higher efficiency of safe and fast service delivery which is what SAHCOL stands for.
SAHCOL APPOINTS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS

The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) has appointed Mr. Basil Agboarumi as the company’s new Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). His appointment as substantive MD/CEO was announced in a letter to him having served in an Acting capacity for the past six months. He holds a National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, a Masters in Communications Studies (Mcs) from the Lagos State University, and a Certificate in Creative Design & Digital Communication from the School of Media & Communications of the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos. Basil joined the Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited, then a subsidiary of the Nigeria Airways Limited, as the Pioneer Staff/Head of the Public Affairs Unit. After the privatization and subsequent takeover of Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited by the SIFAX Group in 2009, he was appointed Head of Corporate Communications, with a mandate to spearhead the re-branding of the new Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited.

SAHCOL CHAIRMAN, SAHCOL HONOURED AT AFARN SUMMIT/AWARDS
The Chairman of the Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL), Dr Taiwo Olayinka Afolabi (MON) has been inducted into the prestigious Aviation Hall of Fame, at the Association of Foreign Airlines and Representatives in Nigeria (AFARN) Summit/Awards, held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja.
While, the company, SAHCOL was honoured with the award of the ‘Most Efficient Ground Handling Company’ of the year.
According to AFARN, Dr Taiwo Afolabi (MON) is an hero who is worthy of emulation, having given his all to grow the aviation industry in Nigeria, buying over and transforming a crippling company to the world class company that it is today.
SAHCOL WINS AIR NAMIBIA LAGOS GROUND HANDLING CONTRACT
The Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited (SAHCOL) has won the contract to provide Aviation Ground Handling services to Air Namibia at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The new contract will see SAHCOL providing unequalled Passenger, Ramp and Cargo Handling Services to the Airline from Friday, the 29th of June, 2018.
